Ancient Egyptian Memories
When my children Sylvia and Rodney were growing up, I liked them to come and see me as soon as they arrived home from school. I felt that if they had experienced any problems during the day, it would help them to talk about it and hopefully resolve it.

One day Sylvia aged ten years came home and I could see she was upset.
“Not a good day today?” I asked. “Why was that?”
“The teacher doesn’t know what she’s talking about,” she replied indignantly.
“Oh dear,” I replied, “What happened?”
“She drew the Great Pyramid on the blackboard and said it was the King’s burial chamber, and that thousands of slaves had had to drag sledges with the stones loaded on them to build it!” Sylvia said. “And that’s not right!”

This puzzled me because as a family we had never talked about Egypt and we definitely had no books on the subject. This was a whole new subject for her.
“Well, how is it that you think you know better than your teacher?” I asked.
She looked into my face and her jaw dropped. She looked puzzled.
“I don’t know how I know mum, but I do know!” she replied with great certainty.

We talked some more but as I knew nothing about the subject I just listened as she told me what she knew had been wrongly presented. After that no more referrals were made about the matter.

Many years later when Sylvia was in her mid-twenties, she visited the pyramid in question. As she stood up after entering the King’s Chamber, she without thinking exclaimed, “Oh, it’s all changed!” Other tourists nearby were surprised and asked her what she meant. She was so embarrassed and wondered why this had popped out of her mouth.

A guard was at the entrance so she asked him, “Where are all the articles that used to be here in the King’s Chamber?”
The man drew himself up and said haughtily, “Such as what?”

She described some of the articles and he said, surprised, “Oh those! They are in the Museum in Cairo. How did you know about them?”
She didn’t know how she knew, but to me it confirmed that somehow at ten years old and since, she must have remembered knowledge from a previous life. This has been confirmed again and again in different ways, enriching our lives.

It was not until many years afterwards did she discover how she knew all about the Great Pyramid.
